Based on the construction experience of directly buried single axial expansion joints in central heating project at Zhangye city in Gansu province, presents the construction essentials including the examination before installation, crucial requirements during installation, pressure test and cleanout, pipe insulation, and backfill. The normal running of four heating periods proves that the construction technique is reasonable and feasible.
